Factory for Living

1. from Dense City to Denser City

There will be an increasing demand for space in city regardless of population growth.  Only densifying a city will bring out more space from limited natural area.

2. from Structure to System

Architectural process will change from constructing a structure to furnishing a system.  Mechanical and electrical communication facilities will be variables much more important than now.  System, not structure, will accomodate these variables.

3. from Form to Image

Exterior of building, away from its previous passive role of defining interior from exterior, will turn into a stage for an active communication of stories.  City will be constituted of letters and images an exterior of building conveys, not its form

4. from Solid City to Fluid City

Previously a city has taken buildings and substance of things as most important variables of constituting its shape.  Interlink and circulation of these variables will be the most critical factor.

5. from City to Hypercity

As mobility and circulation get important in a denser city, a random access to a subject will be preferred.  City will provide random accesses.

6. from Machine for Living to Factory for Living

The paradigm for 20th century architecture was ‘Machine for Living’  Functional thinking appliable to architecture will be implemented throughout a city thoroughly,  without preception.
